Prior to Emory:
Transferred from NCAA Division I Indiana University, where he competed on the swimming and diving team for two seasons... Finished 37th in both the the 50-yard freestyle (20.90 seconds) and the 100-yard freestyle (45.65 seconds) at the 2010 Big Ten Championships... Swam for four years at St. Xavier High School, serving as the team captain his senior year... Was an all-city and all-conference honoree, helping his team to national and state championships in 2007... Coached by Jim Brower in high school... Swam for th Cincinnati Marlins club team... Also played football in high school.
